"Mum's family" with a pic of Top left- Dr. Chingson Y Ling. Ling in hokkien is Ling in mandarin. Dr. Ling was Grandpa's first uncle, who studied in America and worked as a doctor in Amoy. He established the Chungsan Hospital of Amoy. "He was highly respected and loved by all who knew him and was regarded as the highest authority of medical science by all the medical practitioners in Amoy".(biographical sketch in catalogue). Unfortunately, he died of cancer at the age of 50 at the height of his career leaving his wife and eight children.His eldest son Lim Choon Keng worked as a doctor in Shanghai. Under the communist régime, he was sent to Romania. He later took over the his father's hospital ministry. His second son, Choon Tim was lecturing in chemistry at Amoy university like Prof. Lim's second uncle. He was also a concert pianist whom mum remembers performing at the concert hall in Amoy & a good soloist. The youngest daughter studied languages and got her foreign language degree in 1949 according to mum. Top right- Following Dr. Ling's early death at 50, his wife is seen here with her four younger sons and youngest daughter. Her youngest daughter Lim Choon Bien was studying in Shanghai and her sons are Lim Choon Tim, Lim Choon Ping, Lim Choon Hsien, Lim Choon Fan. One of the brothers was teaching at Amoy University at that time. Bottom left- Dr. & Mrs. Ling with the eldest son Lim Cheng Keng and eldest daughter Lim Choon Hwa. Mrs Ling visited mum's grandma often. Bottom right - The couple with their two eldest children taken in China. They lived on an island just off Amoy where the British Council was based. Prof. Lim's second uncle, Dr. Chan To-an, of whom I have no photo, owned two dispensaries in Amoy and Changpu, whilst the third uncle was lecturing in chemistry at the Heieh Ho University in Foochow. The meeting at the italian church went very well. and at the Berrymead church in two weeks time. The children will be over just for christmas before coming back to Belgium as Melody has to work at the hospital on the 27th. Mark, Trish and Nay visited us for a few days ! Johanan has been invited to contribute articles to the CBN christian TV site whilst still teaching english to master's degree students. Melody is getting to grips with her speech-therapy job in the neurological unit of the hospital and has been helping many families with paper-work ... Alison has begun uni lectures with Johanan and Alexi. Her bachelor of Arts degree from Geneva has officially been confirmed.

Dernières nouvelles: "La famille de ma mère" avec (En haut à gauche) - Dr. Chingson Y Ling. Ling en hokkien est le même en mandarin. Dr. Ling était le premier oncle de mon grand-père, il étudia aux USA et travailla comme médecin à Amoy. Il établit l'hôpital Chungsan de Amoy."Respecté et aimé de tous ceux qui le connurent, il fut considéré comme une autorité en médecine par tous les membres du corps médical à Amoy".(esquisse biographique dans le catalogue). Il mourut malheureusment du cancer à l'âge de 50 ans au sommet de sa carrière et laissa derrière lui sa femme et ses 8 enfants. Son fils ainé, Lim Choon Keng, fut médecin à Shanghai. Sous le régime communiste il fut envoyé en Roumanie mais à son retour reprit le ministère de son père et chapauta l'hôpital créé par son père. Son deuxième fils, Choon Tim fut professeur de chimie à l'Université d'Amoy tout comme le deuxième oncle du Professeur Lim. Il fut un pianiste de renom et ma mère se souvient des concerts à Amoy. Sa fille étudia les langues et termina sa licence en 1949. (En haut à droite) - Suite à la mort de Dr. Ling, sa femme est sur la photo avec leurs enfants. Leur fille Lim Choon Bien étudia à Shanghai. leurs fils Lim Choon Tim, Lim Choon Ping, Lim Choon Hsien, Lim Choon Fan sont sur la photo. (En bas à gauche) - Dr. & Madame. Ling avec leur fils aîné, Lim Cheng Keng, et leur fille aînée Lim Choon Hwa. Madame Ling rendit souvent visite à la grand-mère de ma mère. (En bas à gauche) - Le couple avec leurs deux enfants ainés en Chine. Ils vivaient sur une île pas loin d'Amoy où se trouvait le quartier général du British Council . Le deuxième oncle de Prof. Lim, Dr. Chan To-an, (pas de photo) fut propriétaire de deux dispensaires à Amoy et Changpu, tandis que le troisième oncle fut professeur à l'Université de Heieh Ho à Foochow. Le culte à l'église italienne a très bien été. Culte à l'église de Londres dans 2 semaines. Les enfants seront avec nous pour la Noël mais reviennent plus tôt parce que Melody travaille le 27 à l'hôpital. On vient de recevoir la visite de Mark, Trish et Nay pendant qqs jours! Johanan a été invité à écrire des articles pour la télé chrétienne CBN tout en donnant cours d'anglais aux étudiants en master. Le travail de Melody à l'hôpital (dans la section neurologie) continue mais elle a du aider quelques familles avec des papiers ... Alison a commencé ses cours à l'unif avec Johanan et Alexi. Elle a officiellement reçu confirmation de son baccalauréat de Lettres.
