DCB (aka David Crowder Band) has been sharing in ministry with Luis Giglio and the Student passion conferences, and ministered in the UK earlier this year. I have also been listening to Jeremy Camp's moving testimony of how he lost his wife at the age of 21 from cancer, having married her despite knowing she was ill. You can read about Melissa his wife here, watch the video here and finally read a short biography here. Alexi had a good time at the camp. We will be at Myriam and Gui's wedding this saturday and I will be speaking at the Binche church this Sunday. Melody and Alexi are not very well as there is a flu bug going around. So do remember them.

DCB (David Crowder Band) qui travaille en équipe avec Luis Giglio (fondateur des conférences pour étudiants chrétiens "Passion" aux USA). L'équipe a visité l'Angleterre récemment, ensuite Paris et se trouve actuellement en Australie. Le but est de motiver les étudiants à vivre pour la gloire de Dieu. Vous pouvez visiter le site de DCB en cliquant sur l'image ci-dessus ou sur ce lien ici. J'ai également écouté le témoignage de Jeremy Camp, qui a perdu sa femme à l'âge de 21 ans. Alexi, très fatigué, a passé un bon moment à la Retraite de Jeunes bien. Nous serons au mariage de Myriam et Gui ce samedi et je suis invité à prêcher à l'église de Binche ce diamanche. Alexi will be off this friday to the Youth retreat. It will be the same group of young people I spoke to in January of this year. As promised here is another couple of photos of Alison in China, with a picture of the Shandong village she went to, a manual flour-mill similar to that used by my dad in his village, and a village musician with a typical instrument used at the festival. Meanwhile, Johanan is getting back to university studies and Melody is preparing therapy materials for the patients she will be seeing.

Vous savez sans doute que chaque année j'offre de la musique chrétienne au personnel dans les différentes écoles (préfet, directeur, secrétaires, profs, éducateurs . . . ). Celle-ci est offerte gratuitement par l'un ou l'autre artiste chrétien. Un membre du personnel, qui n'est pas chrétien, m'a dit qu'elle avait utilisé le chant par Robbie Seay lors de son mariage au mois d'août! J'ai donc décidé de partager les paroles ici. Alexi participera le week-end prochain à une Retraite de Jeunes à Marcourt (j'ai été invité comme orateur pour le même groupe en janvier). Comme promis, voici quelques photos d'Alison en Chine, avec une image du village à Shandong, un moulin qui ressemble celui employé par mon père dans son village, et un musician du village avec un instrument joué pendant les festivités. Entretemps, Johanan continue avec ses cours à l'unif. et Melody prépare du matériel pour ses patients.

Alison posted some photos following the week-end she spent at her friend Linda's village. As promised here is a picture of some friends of Linda, then you will see some dumplings that my dad used to make and finally a little lad at the village fete ;OD I will leave the family news from a couple of days ago.
Looks like marriages in the family are coming thick and fast ;oD Shortly after our niece Sarah-Emmanuelle in Geneva got married to Christophe, we received news of our niece in England, also Sarah, getting married to Rob next year! Melody will be at the "St. Francis of Assisi Medical Pedagogic Institute" of Bouge until Christmas and then continue her placement at the "William Lennox Institute" at Ottignies (not far from the Louvain-La-Neuve University). William Lennox was "a neurologist who was a pioneer in the use of electroencephalography (EEG) for the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy. Lennox first became interested in epilepsy when working as medical missionary in China... " (New York Times 1960). He served for four years at the Peiping Union Medical College with the Methodist Church from 1916 to 1920, and was loaned during this period to the Rockefeller Medical School in Peking, China. As mentioned previously, Alexi will be going to a Youth retreat next week-end in Marcourt. Hopefully we will try to get a couple of photos from Alison during her stay in the country-side into our next news summary !

Alison a téléchargé quelques photos suite au week-end qu'elle a passé dans le village de sa copine Linda. Comme promis voici quelques photos des amis de Linda, ensuite quelques "raviolis" chinois qui ressemblent à ce que mon père faisait et enfin un petit gamin à la fête du village ;OD Je vais laisser les nouvelles de la famille que j'ai mis il y a deux jours.
Les mariages se succèdent dans la famille ;oD Peu après le mariage de notre nièce Sarah-Emmanuelle et Christophe à Genève, nous apprenons que notre nièce en Angleterre, également appelée Sarah, se marie avec Rob l'année prochaine ! William Lennox était "William Lennox(1884–1960) était un neurologiste américain pionnier de l'électroencéphalographie (EEG) pour le diagnostique et le traitement de l'épilepsie. Lennox s'est intéressé à l'épilepsie lors de son travail comme médécin missionnaire en Chine... " (New York Times 1960). Melody is getting used to her placement at the Institut Médico-Pédagogique de Bouge (Institut François d'Assise) whilst Alexi will be going to a Youth retreat next week-end. Alison sent us some photos of her week-end in the country staying with Linda's family in a typical village which ressembles my dad's village !

I like the tone of her voice, have a listen ;oD The music is more pop than rock but she has an interesting testimony. You can read a few lines of her "Thanks" here. Francesca adds, "Iam in awe of what the Lord has done in me. This year has been the hardest, scariest, most rewarding year of my life. I have known sorrow and I have known joy. God has spoken quietly the words of His heart and He has shown me colours in the grayest hues of winter. Johanan starts lectures at Louvain-La-Neuve University this week whilst Alison was invited by a chinese student to spend the week-end with her family out in the country for a moon-cake feast! Do continue to pray for Melody at the Bouges hospital placement and for Alexi at secondary school.

Les échantillons ci-dessus se trouvent sur le CD de Francesca Battistelli. Vous pouvez aussi suivre le lien ici. J'aime bien le ton de sa voix ;oD La musique est plus pop que rock mais elle a un témoignage intéressant. Quelques mots de reconnaissance "Thanks" se trouvent ici. Francesca dit ceci, "Je suis dans l'admiration face à ce que Dieu a fait pour moi. Cette année passée a été l'année de ma vie la plus difficile, mais en même temps l'année la plus satisfaisante. J'ai connu la tristesse et la joie. Dieu m'a communiqué les paroles de son coeur. J'ai visualisé les couleurs sombres de l'hiver. J'ai entendu ses chants et Dieu n'a jamais lâché mon coeur fragile. . . Il désire te connaître. Peux-tu l'entendre?"

Here in Belgium, Melody has started her placement in the "bouge" hospital,
Johanan has just returned from England a day before the channel tunnel was

This picture was taken when Ruth, Robin, Anna and Lizzie visited us in August. Johanan will be moving on to the 4th year of his five year master's degree in French and English literature at the Louvain-La-Neuve University following successful exam results. Melody, as mentioned, is nearly at the end of her master's degree in Speech-Therapy at the same university and will be doing her placement in hpspitals as well as her final year thesis. Alison just sat entrance exams at the Shandong University and all went well. Her university is on the Jinan site, not too far away from the coastal town of Quingdao, where the Olympic sailing took place. Alexi also successfully passed his year and will be in his final year in secondary school before beginning university next year.

Cette image était prise cet été quand Ruth, Robin, Anna et Lizzie ont passé quelques jours chez nous. Johanan a bien réussi ses examens et continue en 4ème année de son Master's en Littérature français et anglais (cycle de cinq ans) à l'Université de Louvain-La-Neuve. Melody termine son Master's en Logopédie à l'Université de Louvain-La-Neuve également. Elle doit faire son mémoire de dernière année de même que ses stages dans divers hôpitaux. Alison vient de passer un examen d'entrée en chinois à l'Université de Shandong. Tout s'est bien passé. Son université se trouve sur le site de Jinan, pas loin de Quingdao à la côte où une partie des jeux olympiques ont eu lieu. Alexi a réussi ses examens et passe en dernière année secondaire avant de commencer l'université l'année prochaine.
Sujets de prière et liens: 1.Merci pour les résultes des examens cet été à l'unif et à l'école secondaire. 2.Merci pour l'arrivée d'Alison en Chine à Shandong, pour sa chambre d'étudiant et pour les dons reçus. Johanan and Alexi have finished exams this past week but have to wait a few days for results. Meanwhile, Johanan will be visiting Watford from the 4th to the 10th of September. Melody will be on placement during the 5th and final year of her Speech Therapy masters course. She will be beginning her placement near "Bouges" (near Namur). Alison finally got to the Shandong University situated in the provincial capital of Jinan which as you can see above has some spectacular landscape as well as more modern architecture. Her room is on the 6th floor and she says that everywhere she looks everyone looks like me ;oD Alison will be sorting out administrative stuff in the next couple of days and then registering at the university on the 3rd September. Thanks for prayer up to now ! We actually found a wine in the local supermarket manufactured in the region which you can see below or by clicking on this "Noble Dragon" link , the name of the wine.
NOTE: Alison will be going to Shandong University in China, which was her first choice, as she preferred it to Beijing University. It was also the province where her grandad came from, the home of Confucius! Another link can be found here or here. She also wanted to travel after the Olympic Games in order to avoid the crowds. Shandong University is the second largest in China with nearly 52000 full-time students and 30 colleges. Alison will be at the College of International Education. Johanan et Alexi ont terminé leurs examens la semaine passée mais doivent attendre quelques jours pour les résultats. Entretemps, Johanan ira en Angleterre à Watford et à Manchester du 4 au 10 septembre. Melody doit faire ses stages de Logopédie en 5ème année Masters.v Elle commence dans un centre hospitalier à Bouges pas loin de Namur). Alison est enfin arrivée à l'Université de Shandong située dans la capitale provinciale de Jinan. Comme vous voyez ci-dessus dans l'image, Jinan est un mélange d'architecture ancienne et moderne. Alison se trouve à la sixième étage et elle trouve que tout le monde me ressemble ;oD Elle doit remplir pas mal de formulaires administratifs lors de l'inscription et passer un examen d'entrée. Merci pour vos prières ! Nous venons de trouver un vin au supermarché du coin importé de la region où se trouve Alison. Alison va aller à l'Université de Shandong en Chine. C'était en fait son premier choix, par rapport à l'Université de Beijing.
