Family News for prayer! Johanan is working hard for uni. Alison has more chinese exams and Alexi begins exams on thursday so he has to dust off his suit for the oral exams ! Melody has to make some progress in her final year dissertation as well as doing her placements. We will be in England for Christmas and the New Year but Melody and Alexi will be travelling back after a week whilst we stay on.

Nouvelles de la famille pour la prière! Johanan travaille durement pour l'Unif. Alison doit passer d'autres examens en chinois et Alexi commence ses examens ce jeudi. Il doit sortir son costard pour les oraux ! Melody doit progresser dans son mémoire tout en continuant ses stages. Latest: David, a friend from the youth camp I spoke at sent me this photo of Obama. It is totally apolitical ;oD and is an interesting photo which we don't see often in the media. It will probably be doing the rounds on the internet now. If Obama intends to rely on prayer and God's help in his new role he can't go far wrong.

Johanan has been involved with the cast in writing the script of the play they will be doing. He will be using the saxophone and the djembe and actually playing these instruments as part of the play. Remember Alison as she sits further chinese exams and also as she teaches students french at the University. Alexi too will be sittings exams in a couple of weeks time. Melody will be able to travel with us to Watford for Christmas. This will be the first time in four years she has been able to spend Christmas with the family in Watford. This is because she is on her placement this year rather than studying for exams. I have uncluded this video of the Dalit children's education here (untouchables in India).

Latest: Downhere have followed "Wide-eyed and Mystified" with the recording done with an informal group of friends in the Studio and did there album called "Wide-Eyed and Simplified" (unrehearsed, unpolished, unplugged) which are basically acoustic versions with stories between each song of how it came to be written. I will leave the free download that follows of free download of their new song "My Last Testament" on their new album if you click on the name of the song or on the image below.

Apparently she has also been teaching three hours of french a week to students at University with up to 80 students in her classes. She is picked up by car and has a journey of 2 hrs to the university. Although she is not paid much it gives her some pocket money and the experience is useful ;oD Finally, if you have not already seen this video of the Dalit children (untouchables in India) please do have a look. It also invites anyone who would like to sponsor a Dalit child during his or her education and 100% of the gift goes towards the child's needs.

Latest: The christian rock group Downhere have a real desire to minister to young people and are happy to let me give their songs to the young people as well as teachers and staff in schools and colleges at Christmas. The group also mentioned to me that they would be very open to come and minister in Belgium if the possibility arose. Latest: An important work of Gospel for Asia is their ministry to the 3oo million Dalit people who belong to the caste known as the "untouchables". You can find out more about it in the Dalit awakening where many from this people group are finding faith in Christ. You can also click on the image below for the link.

There are many interesting, moving and encouraging accounts of the work amongst the Dalits through this link about "Reaching the Dalits", with "Facts" about the Dalits here and an explanation of the the caste system, some photos of the ministry to the Dalits and finally a video. Alison's chinese exams went well. Johanan did a hard day's work at the local supermarket where he has a student job on certain saturdays. Melody continues to have interesting contacts with her patients, many of whom are children who have a slight to moderate mental handicap whilst Alexi will be sitting exams in a few week's time. We will be in England over the Christmas and New Year period. Finally, we will be changing cars, as I mentioned previously, over the next few weeks.

Dernières nouvelles: Gospel for Asia fait un travail important parmi les 300 millions de "Dalit", un peuple appartenant à la caste des "intouchables". Un grand nombre parmi ce peuple trouve la foi en Christ dans un mouvement appelé le réveil Dalit (site en angais!). Les Dalits se trouvent en bas de l'échelle et sont exclus de la hiercharchie sociale. Ils perdent leur liberté et leurs privilèges (aucun droit ou choix concernant leur habitation, travail, culte . . . ). "Gospel for Asia" partage l'amour de Dieu pour les Dalits, et apprend aux adultes à lire, offre une scolarisation aux enfants qui ne sont jamais allés à l'école, implante des églises au milieu du peuple, et touche les intouchables avec l'amour de Jésus. Latest: I got an email from GFA (Gospel for Asia) which you can look at as an html file here or as as a pdf file here. Gospel for Asia invites anyone who wants to give a gift either of compassion, for outreach or to missionaries to do so on the gift page here. The "pig for christmas" which you can see via the link or in the pic below is describes by GFA in the following manner :

Latest: Whilst watching a BBC documentary on the history of the guitar, I learnt that the Fender Stratocastor has a scultured shape with varied angles as you can see here or in the pic below. The Stratocastor is a work of art in itself on top of it's musical contribution.

Latest: This is the "rEaL" new testament which you can see in the pic below. It is a youth hip-hop bible released by Thomas Nelson. Unfortunately there is no french version of the same bible.
We had a good evening with Maria and her family yesterday evening. Her daughter Sarah came to Soul Survivor a couple of years ago and Maria herself was in the youth group we started at Wasmes more than 24 years ago. You will see Maria With Anna her sister together with my parents in Wasmes when Melody was born in 1985 ! This is an interesting article about the mentality of many christian students (in the USA) who seem to "conceal" their faith whilst at University, according this article from the Fuller Youth Institute. The christian students seem to put their faith "on hold" and would be prepared to "take it up again" when they enter adult professional life ! Whether it reflects the mind-set of christian students in Europe at present remains to be seen. Do continue to pray for Alison's chinese exams.

Dernières nouvelles: Voici le Nouveau Testament "rEaL" que vous verrez dans l'image ci-dessus également. Il s'agit d'une bible pour jeune "hip-hop" publiée par Thomas Nelson. Malheureusement il n'y a toujours pas de version en français. Nous avons passé une bonne soirée hier avec Maria et sa famille. Sa fille Sarah est venue à Soul Survivor il y a deux ans. Maria faisait partie du groupe de jeunes que nous avons commencé à Wasmes il y a plus de 24 ans. Vous verrez Maria et sa soeur Anna avec mes parents lors de la naissance de Melody en 1985 ! Voici un article intéressant à propos de la mentalité des étudiants chrétiens aux USA. Il semble que beaucoup d'étudiants "cachent" leur foi pendant leurs études à l'Université d'après le Fuller Youth Institute. Ils seraient prêts à "reprendre" leur foi une fois installés dans la vie professionnelle ! Continuez à prier pour les exams chinois d'Alison.
